I keep getting code 22 and 32 from the obd. I changed the egr and solinoid last weekend when I got the egr code also would not idle. Chabged parts out and was good to go. To avoid the issue of the light comingbon because of excessive buildup in the intake manifold is ther a CK5 method of removing carbon buildup without removing the intake?
Thanks

You can try Seafoam or do a search for it on the forums here. It works but if your really that builtup then the best way will always be to manually clean out the parts.

My dad use to tell me to run a pepsi size bottle of water down the carb to burn off carbon.

I don't know if it works or not.

i would never pour water down the intake.in slow increments might be ok but that sounds like a hydrolock issue wating to happen.that water has nowhere to go but into the engine and slosh around in the cylanders and if it sits long enoug can leak down into the crankcase through the rings..you can take the carb/injection system off the top of the intake and spray carb cleaner down the runners to clean out carbon in the intake.i would say thats the safest method since when you start it back up it will burn it off.i would take out the spark plugs and turn the engine a few times after to clean out the cylanders of the extra carb cleaner.if you didnt clean out th runners going to the egr and choke heater i would redo those also.

i hade the same problem with my 95 tbi, nothin will work except taking the intake off, cuz the carbon goes all the way down in the heads where your egr passeges are. once its cleamed out try to get your motor to run hotter, carbon is caused by moisture in the engine that doesnt get burnt off buy the engine heat, tbi are known for carbon build up, mine ran at about 165 i wa told to get it to about 185 or 190 and it wont carbon up as bad

The whole pouring of water down the intake trick is done WITH the engine running, not turned off.

I have done it, although with a spray bottle and at a not too fast spray pattern, the idea behind this came from when you blow a headgasket, the cleanest cylinder is usually the one that had the water leak into it. The water vaporizes and breaks up the carbon deposits. This is for cleaning the carbon on the pistons and valves though.
