Up until now, just about every engine I've dealt with has had either TBI or CPI on it. Soon I'll have a carbed engine. Are there any good books that provide a good understanding of a carbuerators functionality (and perhaps show you how to rebuild one)?

Thanks in advance!

For a quadrajet, I don't know that you can beat Doug Roe's book. ("Rochester Carburetors"?)

I may have to look into getting one of these. Does it go into tuning specific models? How much does it cost and where is the best place to buy it?
thanks,
James

I bought a copy at my local Hastings. They had it on the shelf. Little more that $20 IIRC.

Another good source for carb info I've found on the Internet is www.thirdgen.org. I've used the site mostly for Holley info, but there is also plenty about qjets. Never had to post there, just done tons of searches.

It does go into tuning, also covers operation, which helps to understand what you may need to do to tune it.

He does break it down into specific models, I believe there is a bit on the 4GC's(?) as well. It's interesting reading if nothing else, if you have one of these carbs. Packed with info though. Not much at all on the CCC Q-jets though.

CCC... wondering myself, only thing I can think of is 'charming china cheapie' but don't think that's it.

Only trucks that have CCC were ones that went to/came from CA, approx. mid-80's ('84 at least) until TBI in '87.
