Carburetor check...yet again...it's a holley :)

Every q-Jet i have ever seen has a port for the vaccum advance line. It is located on the front of the carb on the Left (linkage side) bottom.
All Q-jets are either 750 or 800 CFM. They have an air valve. That when adjusted properly lets in the exact CFM that the engine needs. A stock 350 will never open up the secondaries to use all of the cfm that a q-jet is capable of delivering.

here's a Pic.

It will work fine if you have a stock or aftermarket spread bore manifold.
What kind of intake manifold is on your truck? You said you had a Edelbrock carb. If it is a 1406 or similar. It is a square bore.
If aftermarket square bore you will need an adapter plate to make a spread bore Q-Jet work with it.
Edelbrock also made a Q-jet too. What kind of a carb do you have? If it does not look like a Q-jet. It is a square bore 1406 performer or similar.

Sweet you just made my night....I have a edelbrock 1406

If you have a 1406...Well... then you need a adapter plate to go from square bore to spread bore. If you want to use a q-jet. Most parts stores have them for around 20-30 bucks. They work fine with a stock or mild engine. I have used adapter plates to bolt on q-jets to many other 4x4 trucks like fords, jeeps, IHC.
Either that or go with a Holley. Unless you get the Truck Avenger. You wil need spring loaded needle/seats, extend the bowl vents, lower the float level, if you want any kind of good offroad performance. Otherwise in stock form they flood bad when in bumpy or off camber/steep hills.

I have a Holley 600cfm 4106 carb on my truck (same carb as the truck avenger is based on) and then only thing I have done to is tune it propperly, and although it still will flood out in certian situations, it is very easy to overcome by keeping on the gas a little.
