Cargo Nets ??

Since its darn near impossible to go wheeling without hauling stuff in the rear of the Blazer, anybody have any ideas or pictures on how to secure or prevent those items from coming forward into the cab in the event of a roll??

I was thinking about trying to find a cargo net type of setup out of a wrecked SUV (the one that goes from the roof down to the back of the seat) but wanted to check with the Brotherhood first

i don't have a pick from last saturday, but i pulled my rear seat and used the latch points as tiedown points. did some crazy stuff and nothing came loose. i didn't roll it, though. one thing i've thought about doing is bolting unistrut to the bed and using that as an anchor point for all sorts of stuff.

of course, the best way to handle it......don't roll

I saw a large cargo net bunji thing at walmart the other day less than 20 bucks and it was like 60 by 72 inches.

As 70Jimmy says, Wallyworld. I remember $15 for one sized to go across the bed, like maybe 2' tall stretched out, and 6' across or so. Price may have gone up as that was a few years back.

"In the event of a roll"? I'm not trusting a $20 Wallymart net.

I'd look at maybe the 'net' tailgates you can get.

Best best though is strapping your stuff right down, so they never start moving. You know the ol' inertia thinking.

I've also used a load bar from a van trailor cut down to size. Again not rollover worthy but better than a net I'd say.

go to the next level and use one of the cage things that cops have behind them in the cruiser. if it can keep a 300lb nutjob on pcp in check, it can probably do some good offroad, too.

Ill have to get pics. or I might already have em, have to check. But i put two folding heavy duty tie down points on top of the back wheel wells. I ran racket straps across my cargo boxes. I plan to put a 3 tied down in the center closest to the tailgate, so this will give me 3 tie down points in a triangle pattern.

Found a pic. You can see the RED strap going across and the tie down points. I still need to secure the Black tool box, my red plastic electrical box and the green bag is my recovery bag with winch controls. tree savers, snatch blocks ,etc.

Ive really really thought about this. Take my rear seat out. put up a cage , maybe even with a door and there you have it. Jus havent decided if I need the rear seat or not. lol. It did come in handy last xmas when I was camping in the snow and my tent and sleeping bag wasnt working out so good. The rear seat makes a semi comfy couch. lol.

Here was one idea I had that worked, it is a truck bed tailgate extension. It worked like I said, but the whole "do I lose the rear seat" keeps playing a role. I did move the spare tire completely out from the inside, so that freed up some space

Here is looking from the front to the back. I was going to do the cargo netting over top of the whole pile, but changed my mind about this project. I used the existing seat bolts to mount it and had mounting points to the sides of the wheel well. It was very secure and strong.

I put two eyelets at the floor right behind the fenders and run motorcycle straps across all my junk from one side to the other. For the smaller stuff I use one of those black plastic cargo things from wallmart. With the eyelets placed here the strap is pretty much centered in the cargo area behind the seat so it works out great and the straps hold the spare down. This isn't a roll but it all worked well in this situation.

I pulled some folding tie downs out of new suburban, put those in the back of the Blazer, and use straps.

Hmm now you got me thinking. If you have a cage maybe a rack with expanded metal and brackets bolted to the cage that you could put on top of your stuff that would hold it down secure.

Look in your fave Mil-Surp catalog, web page, store for a cargo net. Either throw it over your stuff or rig it from the floor to the roof.
