I found this hole and part of the rod on the ground after the 4.3 in my S10 decide to go. Looks like its time for a small block.

I had a 4.3 in an 86 K-10 back when I was in high school. I thought that it'd be ok since I had an uncle with a full size Bronco with a 6 cylinder in it. Boy was I wrong. That truck couldn't even out perform a baby in a stroller. I blew the motor up one night coming home from a party at 3am somewhere between Silver Springs and Dayton Nv. I had the motor rebuilt, but if I had just been on my toes, I would have thrown a 350 in the engine bay and called it good.

I'm sorry, but that's some funny carnage:D
If it were mine, I'd patch the hole, fill it with oil, and see if it still runs:crazy:

I did start it. it ran like s@@# considerin that was #1 rod

Reminds me of a time long ago when my friend and I were in the Fla. keys,,his dodge van slung a rod thru the block of his slant 6 and knocked the starter loose....:haha::haha:It was our only transportation...

We pulled the starter,,,and thru the hole in the block,,,drove a wooden dowel into the oil hole in the crank pin,,,took a coat hanger and wired up the piece of rod still hanging on the piston,,,used cardboard and ducttape over the hole in the block,,, filled it with oil,,, push started it and drove back to Miami...:haha::haha:

had to stop every 10 miles and pour in a quart of oil but we made it on 5 cylinders !!
