Was told these were great carbs, but how well will they work on a 84 K5. Keep in mind I am getting rid of the CCC system. Whats the best CFM rate to have? Will a 78 T-350 tranny kickdown cable connect to them?

John

Edelbrock performer carbs are the same as Carter AFB. That is about the only place you can get them new. Carter does not make AFB carbs anymore. Weber bought the rights and they make them for Edelbrock. You can find AFBs used but will prolly need rebuilt.
They are a good carb but need some modifications to make them work good off road.
Need spring loaded needles and seats and lower the float level a bit to keep them from flooding at angles.
600 cfm will work great in stock or mild 350. You will also need a square bore manifold.
They wont fit the stock spread bore manifold.

The Edelbrock ones have different rods though . One carb is tapered , and the other carb stepped , don't ask me to remember which is which , I run Q-Jets :thumb:

If I was removing the CCC carb , a non CCC Quadrajet and older non ESC HEI would be going in

Dodge vans 1984ish used Carter AFB. They used a plastic bowl and it was called Carter Thermo Quad. We had one on a church van. Boy, they were big carburetors. We never had any problems with it, however the plastic bowls were known to crack. They looked to be 1/3 larger than a quadrajet. The van had a 318cu.in. engine.
