Cat 406

My Dad runs 3 C-16's 5 C-15's one N-14 and a handful of Bigcams and one KTA 600we had two trucks with the 60 series they were both pretty problematic . We ended up pulling both and replacing one with an N-14 and the other with a C-15 of course my Uncle swears by detroits (I'd just assume swear at them) he has about 13 Logtrucks all 60 series equipped

whats the difference between at 3406 and the 3208 Cats we have in out terragators at work?

The first 2 numbers are the engine series. 30 31 32 33 34 35 36 of the old series. smallest is 30, largest is 3600's.

last 2 digits are the actual engine designation. 3208 is a v8 that would fit in a pickup 3406 is a larger displaement in an inline 6.

3408 is a v8, but much to big for a pickup. they're in dozers.

3616 is a V16 stationary engine. Gas compression station or very large power generation. A 3618 weighs about 85,000lbs.

yeah i knew 3208s are V8s, theve got some power and sound mean as hell with a straight pipe.

oh ya them bastards are huge, I about gave myself a hurneia when we switched out starters.

Well Mr. know it all diesel mechanic:D
how do those numbers work for the 379 and 398's on my Drilling rigs:confused:

PS> for those of you that are reading this, I'm onnly poking at Demon abit, so don't go and get your panties in a bunch :)

At work our fleet is primarily T-600's (I hate the 600 to low to the ground) with N14's. We do on the other hand have 8 new w900's due for delivery in early June with C-15's with twin hair dryers. We have a wide array of trucks really about 130 in all. As for the 3406 I love the old B models, pretty much everything mechanical.
