Cause for crack around the door striker bolt?

That small plastic sleave that goes on the door pin, if that's gone the door can rattle on it causing cracks.

Add worn out bushings in the hinges and it will wventually crack
 
I don't have the crack yet but I'm getting the door misalignment, lose door pin brushing and missing striker brushing fixed.

If looking at the driver door from the outside in the upper right door frame I can see about a silver dollar sized of paint worn from the door hitting the door frame. Also the top of the striker is worn.

Fixing this right is going to save me problems later. If only I had known about lubing the hood hinges. I now have the bent hood issue. I'm going to try and prevent the cracked striker issue.

I bet worn body mount bushings, and rot in the cab supports allowing the cab to flex in the middle at the floor,is also is responsible for a lot of those cracks at the striker bolt,since its taking most of the brunt of the flexing in that area...when the floor rusts along the seat and rocker area,about the only stiff peice of metal left is the door itself,and you can hear it rub against the cab every time you hit bumps..the cab is being litteraly held together by the door hinges,door,and striker bolt....sometimes you'll feel the cab sag some when you open the door....
 
Are there any other ways to know if my cab is sagging? Body mounts are good. There is rust in the rockers and front floor support. The doors have never been adjusted since factory.
 
Here is the rotted front floor support and rocker. Could this have caused the door to rub the door frame? Even with this rust it seams to be solid.

Those "inner rocker panels" are what gives the rocker and cab most of their support,and prevent flexing ,besides the cab mounts and rubber mounts,so yeah,I'd say that could be contributing to your problem..............................................................................................I recently decided to patch a few minor looking holes in my '82 GMC's rockers that were bubbly on the surface under the door...--I could hear the drivers door rattling when I hit bumps,and the hinges and bushings are tight--so I figured it must have rot somewhere--I was right--by the time I got done poking around with a screwdriver,the entire top of the rocker proved to be little more than bondo applied by some previous owner,and where the weatherstripping "lip" was,had completely separated from the floor along the seat and up to the kick panel...............................................................................................................................................................................................................I also found rust on the angle iron looking support where the rubber bushing for the cab mount sits,and it was starting to cave in some...the inner rocker panels was still 90% intact however,the external part of the rocker under the door had a few holes that quickly became BIG holes,so I used some galvanized steel and patched it back together with pop rivets and drive screws--the truck isn't worth doing a frame off resto on it--hated to do a "hack" job,but when your broke and feel welding any patches on is a waste of rods,wire or oxogen,the rivets work just as well,and it'll last as long as I own it,or till it gets scrapped...................................................................Took it for a ride the other day,no more "knocking" from my door now when I go over bumps like before..door closes better now too!...

Did you jack up the pillars? How did you know the door frame was back in alignment?
 
The door still closed OK,and the gaps around the door to the cab didn't look too wide or close anywhere,so I assume the cab was just flexing over bumps a bit,and wasn't so bad it sagged when not in motion..................................The passenger side is in much better condition,which is unusual,usually the gutter side rots first and worse than the drivers side does...If I had deep pockets I'd have bought a china rocker for it and installed it "right",but lately I've been too discouraged after looking the rest of the hulk over, to go start doing a complete restoration on it...it just has too many things wrong for me to deal with...someone else might look under it and say "gee,its not THAT bad",but I'm just sick of fixing rotted trucks and watching them rot again in a few years...................................................................................................however,the condition my truck is in now,is about the same as many others were when I first bought them--had to put rockers and cab corners,floor patches and door bottoms on them all,just to get them to pass inspection...out of maybe 6 trucks I've had,only two of them had only minor rust--the rest were destined for scrap when I intervened...at least got almost 10 years out of this one before I had to break out the pop rivet gun and sheet metal..:doah:..
