I purchased a 102" whip and stainless steel ball and spring mount. I am in the middle of the install, and I see that the ball does not accept the standard RG58 connector. Due to the position of the CB and the way the wire is run, I really do not want to cut the wire and splice it the way the directions say. It will be extremely difficult to replace the CB cable.

Is this normal for the ball and spring mount?
Was I given the wrong part?
Is there an adapter I can either make or buy?

That is the way that every mount, of that style, is that I have ever seen.
Just cut the coax and add ring terminals on one end. It is easy.

Thanks. Ill do that. I just didnt want to cut it unitl I was sure. It would be terribly difficult to replace the cable if I needed to, due to the way I ran it.

Just be sure that the center conductor goes to the center, and thhat the ground is good. Also run another ground wire from one bolt to the one attached to the coax ground.

Hope that wasn't too confusing.

If you don't want to cut your cable , get a connector , a barrel , and a foot of coax .

Put the PL-259 on the new coax , connect bare end like they say . Then use the barrel to connect your nice long coax to the assembled antenna with short coax lead you just made .
