Just got a CB for christmas (antenna and all) :woot:

Its a Cobra Night Watch classic with a 4' firestick and a stake pocket mounting kit

its going in my '05 1500 Silverado

I am curious on how people installed there CB's and how they routed there antenna wiring, so i can make it neat and clean or did you have someone install it for you

This is my first CB in a looooooong time (since my first truck over 10 years ago)

I want to do it right and make it clean with out fires or goofey looking wires hangin

thanks

I have a smaller CB (can't remember which right now) but I took out my ashtray and mounted the CB in the void left there and then ran the cable under the drivers side door sill, behind the trim panels in the rear and out through a hole in the floor behind the trim panel near the tailgate. This is on a 73.

My ash tray is like 3" x 3".. soo that wont work

most of my dash is plastic (sad to say)

my CB is like 8" x 10" x 3"

i thought about puting it on the passenger side of the transmission tunnel but thats hard to reach. right now prime real estate is taken up by my fire-extinguisher.

I have no cubby holes that it will fit in

What about putting it on the bottom of your cupholder deal? Mine will be going there, it just sits on the trans hump now. Easy to access when folded up, still able to use it when folded down. And if you want to take it out the cup holder probably isnt that hard to find a replacement for.

Edited to add:

I ran the wire up behind the dash, out the bottom of the relay block on the passenger side of the dash, under the door sill trim and out the back of the cab. I've got a magnet mount on an ammo can in the bed. Not the best, but it was free.
