You really should post this in the communication forum. But I mounted my Galaxy DX-99V to the front of my console.

well yur lucky, in the fact that you have a galaxcy radio. but yea i have a bench seat, so i was thinking either my metal roof, or under the dash twoard the passenger side, since i have my sterio amp under the dash on my side, and my 465 and 4wd shifter in the middle. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

"steel horse" makes a overhead shelf for our trucks. I had one in another truck and mounted my CB on the shelf. I liked it, but sold the truck. I was thinking of getting another for my current truck a "87sm465np208" /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif

Ain't no luck to it, I broke down and spent the money for one. I'd wanted one for a few years, had the money, so I got it. Now I don't have the money anymore, so I'm glad I bought it when I could. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

yea, me and my dad were gawking over the galaxcy radios, but then i realized i dont need one, blah blah bla blah blah, so i got someone that seemed right, and looked cool, and i can see the controls a wee bit better at night. yea the shelf soudns good, and if it is lockable, i like that better, but for now i think tomarow im gunna go and put it up there on the roof, sit there and hold it there with my arm, and see how i like it, and if i do like it im gunna drill 4 holes and put 4 screws in, and use it like that for a while, or untill i find a better way to mount it /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

i was thinking on the roof like that as well, I think it would look cool to have the Mic cord hanging down but i didnt want to deal with any other wires that come out the back, i hate hiding wires.

i honestly dont care about wires, i find it fun to do that stuff, as long as it dosnt get out of hand, yea i have a small bungee cord going from one sun visor to the other, and then one on that bungee cord going from that to the cb mic, works well, bounces around alot durning hard core bumpy off-roading, but manages to hang itself around the rear view mirror eventually /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif.

I hate wires showing. I can handle seeing the coax if need be, but power wires in plain view looks tacky in my opinion.

my dad has his on the roof in his truck...with the mic hanging from the side of the CB radio. looks good to me i guess...probobly were ill put mine...i got a old cobra radio that was hardly ever used im ganan throw in it..

Here is mine on the overhead shelf. Old pic but you can still see it.

Nice shelf man. I have always wanted the one that Steelhorse offers. Does it get in the way of your view when climbing a hill or decending hills?

it sometimes gets in the way but you can usually see around it. Just don't put stuff up there when 4Xing, it lands in your lap. It actually fell one time 4Xing too but I put bigger screws in and never had a problem since. Been debating about putting anoth CB radio mount coming down from teh roof to the CD to help support the weight of the CD too, on bumpy road the shelf will sometimes bounce and scares me if it is gonna come down again.
