I wired in my CB today with a firestick mount, 2' antenna, and cable to my cobra radio. Everything powers up but I receive no signals on any channels. Its all static. I'm figuring theres something wrong with the way my antenna is setup. The antenna mount is odd instead of just being another plug its a ring that bolts to the base of the mounting assembly.

At first I thought it wasnt picking anything up because I mounted it in the front corner of my bed against my cab so i moved it to the back of my bed and still the same thing.

I need some help trouble shooting this. I live by the water and should be picking up something...

if no one was using the band , you heard nothing . Find another rig with a radio , park a mile away , and yak to each other :thumb:

Seriously , the band is dead right now , mostly every frequency over 14 mhz is pretty much dead now except for local range . Betcha no one was using their radios when you checked .

Pauly is right... when I wired up my CB I thought I did something wrong but quickly realized the air-waves are just dead. I live within 1/2 a mile of a freeway and within 2.5 miles of our main "trucker" freeway and didn't hear a thing.

I did what was suggested and got my physics teacher to bring his Bronco over and we tested it out.

Yep, we don't have CB's in boats at all. I have had the same problem while trying to set a CB up, you just have to get someone that you know to talk with you or go to a CB shop - they have CB's on down here and will help you get set up.
