I took sh** for not having one last year. So far the Blazer is exactly like it was last year, including the missing radio :(

If I've got $100, or very close to, which should I get? Also, antenna advice. I know nothing about this stuff. I'd rather not go over the $100 on the unit since the truck is stored with no doors and very much open to the public. Plus, I don't wheel with others often. :doah: So, I will go on Amazon and buy whatever the brotherhood says to.

This is the one thing I'll end up doing for BB. :haha:And I'm ready :thumb:

A more permanent antenna solution would be a fender bracket with a stainless steel whip. That setup has lasted me the longest by far. And works well enough for the trail.

Thank you for your input.
Would the Pro520XL be worth the extra coin?
I like the idea of the magnet whip since I don't use a CB often plus I try to cover the Blazer when not in use.

A wilson 1000 antenna in either solid mount (still easily removable with a cap for when it's not installed) or magnetic base will make all the difference in the world.

Personally I run a Uniden Bearcat 680. But that CB and antenna are going to run you about $140 from amazon.

I run a cobra 19 in the buggy. Only installed for maybe once or twice a year, I just leave the antenna wire and power connections abandoned when not installed.

Like the guys said- a good antenna is the key- A Wilson or a Firestick. Just make sure it's mounted so the antenna sticks out above the roof line.

I didn't think it was. Don't ever know how to use the extra tuning knob and I don't have a use for the PA.

Like the others said a good antenna is key. You can get away with a cheap radio.

What kind of cable am I going to need? Anything stand out better than the rest or is it just a coaxial? Anything on Amazon, I may just do the 1000 antenna and mrk5's radio, but wouldn't mind getting the proper cable too.

Never had one myself but I know a lot of people do. I just always hear people recommend Wilson.

Although to be honest, I don't even know what mine is. It's just a plain old stainless steel whip.

I've had firesticks before, but they don't work as good as the Wilsons IMO. A Wilson out of the box will work better than a tuned firestick. Plus in AZ the shrink wrap on the firesticks gets brittle and breaks off, then the wire gets caught on trees etc.

I'm borrowing a midland handheld CB with a Wilson magnet base antenna from a friend. Looks like I'll be joining in on the fun!
