cb radio's

I've owned a lot of different brands and cant say one is any better than another was..had Realistic,Cobra,Uniden,Pace,Roberts,President,Midland, and some others ,they all worked about the same..

Guys more into the radios prefer certain brands because of reliability and ease of modifications for "extra channels" or the ability to make single sideband "sliders" to go between channels, and some can be peaked to higher wattages more easily..I cant help you there..

cobra has a blue tooth radio, i am planing on getting. totally different modern look.

I'm gonna have to say (even though I'm not a hardcore CB enthusiast) as far as durability and longevity goes, COBRA, hands down, I've owned a cobra 29 and a 25 both classic, time proven radios, basically the same thing except the 25 is a smaller more compact version while the 29 is a full size unit with all the features. If you want a radio that won't break the bank, and will last as long as you need it to, if fused right and with a properly tuned antenna so the unit doesn't fry, get a cobra. The cobra 25 in my truck has been through 6 trucks before this one and is still working good as new. Has been down plenty of dirt roads and trails which yall know in a solid axle/leaf spring truck you dam near get a concussion, and has had drinks spilled on it, etc. can't kill the thing. Sorry if I'm preaching but just giving my 2 cents.

The Cobra 148GTL was the first choice of many truckers back in the day,for a SSB radio...the 29LTD was the most popular 40 channel one..

I have both. :D

Used to run the older version 29 that was detuned to run a small heater, got bored of that and came across a good deal on the 148gtl. It's currently in the burb.

I don't have any complaints on the 148's performance, it's been a good radio, but just in the past couple of years the faceplate cover is peeling off and the channel readout doesn't work right any more either.

Still been good radios though.
