Mic is new. Ill just take it to a local shop. Thought I could mail it to someone who worked on them and help generate some cash for a fellow member

Ok... so what's the problem?
Do you have a buddy with a CB that you can test with? Like... not across town test, but like in the driveway test.
It's entirely possible there's something else that may be a problem (feedline, antenna, mounting hardware, etc.).
If you have a friend that's willing to humor you: Get them to park down the street a bit (maybe 1/4 mile or so). Have them transmit with their radio, and see if you can receive. If so, you do the same (transmit and see if they can receive).
If either one doesn't work, swap radios and see if the problem follows. If if doesn't follow, you probably have a problem at your antenna feedpoint.
I don't fix them myself but know where a shop is thats pretty awsome. Check sparkyscbshack.com
