cd player woun\'t play?

I am about ready to throw the dang thing out the window! It is a JVC cd/fm/am sterio, and I can't figure out whats wrong with it. It only playes cds when the vehical is not running, and then its a fight to get it to work anyway. It is always a fight to get the thing to eject my cd (one is stuck in there right now). It just sits there displaying eject and dosn't do anything. The only way to get it to stop doing that is to take off the face and plug it back in again. Then no sound wants to come out of it and it seams that whenever I have a cd in there, the fm/am dosn't want to work. I have to keep pulling the face and/or turning it off and on again to get it to finaly play some music. Dose anyone know whats up with my sterio? Dose JVC give out manuals on the web or somethig so that I could figure out how to work it?

Re: cd player woun\'t play?

What makes you think an owners manual would help? Sounds like some serious internal problems with it. Are you sure the wiring is OK.

Re: cd player woun\'t play?

I am pritty sure it is wired correctly. I played with it for about an hour today, and it started working properly, but only with original cds. Burned cds didn't work at all. Whats the difference between them, they look identical?

Re: cd player woun\'t play?

Some CD players just can't play burned CD's. It seems to me like kind of a quality thing. I have some upper end Alpine and Clarion Pro Audio units from back in the mid 1990's that play burned CD's just fine...before people even could have burned CD's. And yet some of the new CD players still have trouble with them.

Re: cd player woun\'t play?

If the CD wasn't closed when it was burned then only a puter can read them.

When you burn a CD, it gives you the option to "close" the CD. Basically write protect it. If you wanted to add more to the CD later, then you would not "close" it. Only computers can read an "open" CD. Hope this helps!

Re: cd player woun\'t play?

Are the burned cd's songs converted first (wavs) or are they mp3's? Makes a difference in playing them.....

Re: cd player woun\'t play?

I just wanted to chime in on this CD vs. CD-R thing. It is a real pain in the butt that not all player will read CD-Rs. When I first started burning CDs, I thought I was doing something wrong because they wouldn't play in my Sony home DVD machine. Then I tried them in other players...they worked fine in my car (Eclipse 5303) and on my Pioneer Elite CLD-99, they also work fine in my little portable CD player.

I heard a rumor that Sony is deliberately making their products incompatible with CD-R due to their heavy involvement in the recording industry (Sony Music)...I heard it was an attempt to discourage CD piracy and "Napster-style" copying of their licensed music....not sure if this is really true.

The bottom line is: If you find a deck you are interested in, bring a CD-R to the store and test it before you decide...make sure it actually plays your burned CD's

Just my $.02

Re: cd player woun\'t play?

I converted them to wave files when I burned them, and I closed the cd. I dont get it...it played them a month ago, and now it decides not to. My cousin has some decks that he could give me a good price...but I will check them to see if they play my burned cds before I buy.
