I have a 91 suburban with a maplight and courtesy lamp, no roof center console, I guess my question is is the mounting bracket the same in all the trucks, what versions came with the ceiling console? I took a trip to the Junk yard and found an 89 1500 with the console, and it had a bracket riveted to the support members on the roof. would i need to find a way to pull that bracket too if scrap one?

If the bracket is riveted just drill out the rivets and take the bracket also just in case yours doesn't have the bracket. :deal:

Hah!, Well that was the plan 4x4High, Just curious if that step was actually needed. Example, when I installed factory fog lamps on my Avenger, the wiring harness was just tucked up, i just had to un-tie it.No running wires, no fuss.it was just there. I guess to be sure I will need to just take the head liner down to be sure. My plan was just to pop rivet the brace back in place once I removed it from the donor truck. But that is a ton of work with taking the liner down etc...Much easier to make a few careful cuts and bolt back in.

i had to take the bracket off my 91 suburban to swap the overhead console into my 88 suburban. Actually cut the roof off the 91 to get at it, it was quicker to remove that way too
