Just like the title says, broke 2 5/16 sockets trying to get it loose and then rounded the focking head when I used a box wrench. Anyone have an easy solution to get this bolt out? Im trying to replace wheel seals and I need to get it removed. I have seen the extractor that you can buy, but i dont think that will work for me. Thanks

im not sure what its called but i need to remove it to remove the c clips for the rear 10 bolt POS i have. i may just return all the parts I bought today for the 10 bolt and just get the damn 14 bolt in sooner.

That compleetly sucks.I had a few times when only the threaded part comes out and the pin part is stuck inside. If I had to do it again id drill the big pin in a line along the lock pin bolt and get that part out then remove the axles so the center can be removed and drill the bolt with a reverse drill bit.No mater how you do it its gona suck. Before you go nuts is it possable to hammer a 6 point socket on it and try one more time?

That's a center pin bolt, search for that it's pretty typical for those to strip or break when you try to remove them.

im going to try and heat it up and then pound a different socket on. hopefully it works.

Clean it off really good, hit it with a wire wheel to strip it down and burn a nut on it that will fit over. Welding it will both heat it up and the larger nut will give you a huge torquing force to pull the little bolt out with.

This is always my last resort for broken/stripped stuff and has never failed me.

Infact I did this on a flywheel bolt on my 5 banger diesel...

i dont have access to a welder so im gonna try and heat it up good and go from there

Ive ran into that situation a half dozen times or so . Ive had great luck using a chisel and punching an X into the head of the bolt, then using a drift and mushroom the head slightly, a propane torch to heat up the loctite thats probably there and a 6 pont socket. If it was still unanswered it is standard rotatation thread

x2 on the visegrips. If they won't break it lose, try a hammer/chisel to turn it and break it lose. There's more than 1 way to skin a cat.

I was just about to give a link to that tool my friend invented. :thumb:

I actually saw that you linked that in an older thread, but that wont really work for me I dont think. Maybe if nothing else works ill go that route,
