A bunch of us got together and made a trip to the central Oregon Cascades from 7/15 through 7/18. We roughly followed the first part of Route 3 of the Oregon Back Country Discovery Route (OBCDR) on the Pacific Crest Trail. We were around the three Sisters mountains, Brokentop, Mt. Bachelor, Black Butte, and Mt. Washington. I used a netbook with a USB GPS receiver and forest service maps for navigation. We also had quite a few sets of maps along for the ride. They are definitely needed. It's easy to get fairly lost on the myriad of trails out there.

This definitely wasn't a hard core off road trip as you'll see from the pictures. It was mainly forest service roads and two track trails. We tried to stay off the blacktop as much as possible. There were a couple of moderate rocky trails but it was no big deal. Most of us were running stock trucks anyway. It was a blast and we already have plans to do it again and try to get further along the route. We started in the Hoodoo ski area parking lot and made it down about 20 miles south of Sisters, Oregon.

Here are some sample pics. The links to the full set are:

Ha, thanks. They are just plain old 32" BFG A/Ts. I did have to stick some ORD 1" zero rates in the spring packs though so they wouldn't rub the fenders at full lock turn.

As for the wheels they are ex-military CUCV wheels from Ft. Lewis in Washington State. Here's the story on them.

I got the stock hubcaps off eBay.

What do you use for hosting your pics on the website?

I pay for web hosting space for my domains. I've had it for about 7 years now. I have two domains and unlimited space. I only really use it for hosting pictures and for FTP uploads so I can share files with friends. I'm not a big fan of the free sites. Too many ads. I also use it for my email hosting since I change ISPs fairly often. That way I don't lose my email address.

I currently go through a company called IPOWER but don't know if I'll stay with them. Their support isn't the best and, although I haven't had many problems with them, the internet is littered with bad reviews.

Nice pictures. I'm new to the area and just got an'80 Blazer after selling my '90 K5 Jimmy when my son was born. He's seven now! Maybe we'll see you around the trails.

Where in Southern Oregon are you? There's a lot of places to go and stuff to see in Central and S. Oregon.
