To the best of my knowledge, the serial #0258 one above is still for sale, though the seller seems to have not put out his 'practically-every-week' relisting. It can be found here; http://portland.daype.com/autos/rec...4-VERY-RARE-7900-Vancouver-Wa-Ad-2900650.html

Meanwhile, over on the other side of the country is this #1304 '77 Chalet, seen in both Craigslist and eBay ads: http://chattanooga.craigslist.org/rvs/2895503917.html

there is some weird story behind that first one we found out on one of my other forums. I don't remember how it when exactly but it was something like the owner said he had it for 10 years garaged most of it life well taken care of etc etc. But thats when a member tried to go buy it. wanting all info on it found out it had like 5 owners in the last 3 years and had an insurance claim at some point with no details tho. It has been a while since we talked about that like over a year but i do know thats the same place still tring to sell it.

You might be thinking of Chalet #1385, which was the one that came out of an estate sale, then changed hands a bunch of times since the summer of 2010. I found this web site just recently which seems to track 'sold' eBay listings, and you can find it if you do a screen search of the word Chalet. As near as I can tell on my own, it was a legit sale for $21,500, 'cause I checked the seller's eBay feedback page for two months until the buyer finally put in his feedback.

The #0258 one is the story where our Yahoo Chalet forum member had it for years, sold it on Craigslist for $3400, and that RV consignment lot turned around 9 days later with it for sale at more than double the price. What got me was that whoever the seller is re-used the identical text out of the previous owner's Craigslist ad in his first eBay listing, which then misrepresented how long the seller owned it. The prior owner and I both protested to the seller to knock that off, and at least his 2nd eBay listing erased references to the length of it was supposedly owned.

in that CL posting is that correct that theres only 300 left??

Basically correct, sort of. Jim, the seller of #1304, is mentioning what I told him about my mega-spreadsheet of Chalets & Casa Grandes. So far I have 288 of these on the list where I have individual descriptions and / or photos of each. Problem is, a few are really old text-only 'for sale' ads, and others are random photos I've found, so some are probably one-and-the-same vehicle. A few have been crushed, but that's less then 10 that I know about.

I do keep discovering new ones all the time, so there are likely a couple hundred somewhere out there still waiting to be discovered.

Man i would love to have one someday when i have more time to travel and camp.
