For the k5 blazer run ( i think 69-93) did the frame thickness for the K5 change? Is one frame stronger then the other for a year? Do pre-73 frames have the stearing box issue with the frame cracking? Are 1 ton frames thicker?

not sure about the first few questions but i have heard the 1 ton frame is indeed thicker steel

the 73 up rear of the frames seem fell thinner guage and also are wider, the rails themselves,

and also under cab length of the rails too,

ive been through this before i have taken alot of trucks apart 67-87 and i know that a 73-up crossmember wont fit in the rails of a 72 older, they are just a hair wider in 73-up

just enough to be different, at the tranny region of the frame i know

they are definitely different frames

and 1 ton frames are taller rails than 3/4 and 1/2 ton

unless its a crew cab 20(73-up) or a Longhorn 20 or a 9 foot step 20(68-72), then it is 1 ton height rails

good luck
