You can see from my post count I'm new, but I have been reading and searching this site for years.

I have run into a problem with my 88 k5. Today I changed out the master/slave cylinders for the clutch. I had to remove the duct work under the steering column to unpin the master cylinder. After bleeding everything, but before buttoning everything up I went to start the engine to try engaging the transmission in case I had to bleed things some more. The starter won't even kick in.

So, my question is if anybody can give me some clues of what I might have unplugged or bumped or otherwise screwed up to give me a place to troubleshoot this.

As far as I can tell the switch on the clutch pedal is still okay.

The vehicle is an 88 K5, SM 465 with a Ranger Overdrive and rebuilt drive shafts. Other than that everything else is stock. I've been going since 5:45 this morning, so I am going to get some sleep so I can start same time tomorrow morning. I'll try to check back tomorrow after work.

Thanks in advance for any input. I have picked up so much from this site.

My first guess would be that the clutch safety switch didn't get re-connected. It's a switch at the top of the clutch pedal (though there may be more to it in your system) that keeps the engine starting if the clutch pedal isn't pushed down.

Do any of your key-on items work? Buzzer with key in, door open, fuel pump primes, etc?

I will take a closer look at the safety switch.

Thanks for the replies. I have to take my daughter to a meeting and then I will get back to the troubleshooting. Just wish it wasn't 101 degrees outside again...........

Turns out the safety switch has an adjustment clip. Took a couple of tries to get the length right to engage the switch but the engine now starts. Thanks for the help.
