I was never happy with the table I built. So I lowered it 4" and stripped the 1/2in plate top off. Decided to use that for the lathe stand and did the top of the fab table with gapped C channel so it can be clamped everywhere. Its super flat.

Thats great! Can you get clamps in between the channels to clamp stuff down?

Yep. I made it wide enough to get a typical c clamp in there, my quick grips fit, pipe clamps should fit too.

Bitchin. Its so nice to get stuff flat. Thats how I did that big oval hoop for my seat mounts.. two U pieces and then lined them up with 1.5 inside the 1.75 and then clamped to table. Turned out nice and flat.

Yeap. I was so unhappy with the table before. Having a 1/32 hump in it sounds so ridiculous to people but it sucked trying to built a frame on it and clamp it down. Or lining up a corner and having the pieces be off a 1/16th. Flat was the whole purpose of building it.
