Hi i was curious as to how many things i could change on my title? This is in Alabama and i know you can change things such as color and a few other things. if i were to swap the body parts from a chevy truck to a gmc would i be able to add anything to identify this? if all the badges were chevy and the title says gmc it may run into problems. Some of the boys in blue around here are just looking for any little thing they can find to get you with and running the vin is within their jurisdiction since after running the tag they can check the rest of the vehicle if there is a discrepancy.

I know its legal to do but the police run road blocks around here nearly 7 days a week and they check you veeeerry thoroughly. I think they are looking for someone as they haven't said much yet but i would like the paperwork to reflect the truck more accurately.

Badging is just that, a badge. As long as the title and VIN match you're ok. Lots of people swap badging and fenders/front clips and running gear all the time but what really matters is that the VIN number matches what is on the title.

I agree with Scott, I think you're gonna create more trouble for yourself changing stuff on a title than you would explaining you swapped badging but have the correct and matching VIN...

My old Jimmy had Chev badges everywhere, and my current 90 Blazer will end up with a GMC grill and mid 70's round headlight front clip. I'm not worried. It's just window dressing from the law's viewpoint.

Some mazda at the girlfriends apartment complex has decepticon badges, does that make it a robot in disguise? Damn asians!

I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks guys. guess ill leave it alone and just deal with them. Ive been thinking since i have a full picture documentation of it compiling a picture album for them to flip through showing everything that was swapped and the original truck. that way when they try to get all intimidating they can leaf through the build and be somewhat entertained. It's amazing how fast they go from hardass to nice guy after you talk to them for a bit.

Actually, most cops are just like you and me but it all depends on how you react to them when approuched. If you come off like a dick then expect to be hasseled. There are always a few cops though that think they have something to prove and that they're better than everyone else.
