Changing a V6 to a V8 in a \'94 questions

Has anybody done this? We have the doner truck and was wondering if we could get away with like the wiring harness or what kind of surprises we might find. Thanks.

What type of fuel system is on the donor truck? The '94 that you want to swap the engine into should have TBI. If the engine you are putting in it is the same system, the wiring harness will be the same, both engines use the same sensors. You should be able to swap the engine in, hook up the wiring, and swap the ECM from the V8 truck in. the ecm from the other truck will have been programmed for the transmission and gear ratio parameters that were in the donor truck, if these are different you may have to get a special chip to correct these settings.

as stated on the above post if the wiring and fuel system
is the same and the drive line is diff.you won't need
to get any special chips, use you oem ecm and just change
both removeable chips and this will take care of it.
did 350 swap on 88 astro van and spent alot of time
trying to get it right and that is all it took to
get the computer working right.after spending 500
on computers and chips and it is one bad a$$ set-up
sorry about that poeple some times i need /forums/images/graemlins/1zhelp.gif
