I have to replace the lower drivers side ball joint on my 08 yukon denali. It has the aluminum lower arm. My real question is,, Is it do-able? or will grinding the factory detents pressed into the ball joint, and then pressing it out, destroy the hole it goes in in the A arm..?

ball joint is $35 and i have access to all tools needed. Entire new aluminum arm with bushings and balljoint is $225.

After reading my own thread i realized,,,,, if it wasnt possible, they wouldnt sell the ball joint by its self:rolleyes::haha: answered my own question i guess

Well I've never changed one in an aluminum arm but in my experience I would change the whole thing. I've had the press in joints come loose in the control arm and flop around. Also about impossible to press them in without ripping the boots.
