Do I just bleed them until clear clean looking fluid comes out?
I doubt its ever been changed,I am pretty sure the hoses were original.

thats what I did. I also put in new bleeder screws because I rounded off the old ones.

Remove the fluid from the MC first. You can get all the nasty fluid out of the MC first, instead of pushing it through the lines. After you clean the mc, fill it with new fluid and then bleed the lines.

My personal way is to open all four bleeder valves and let it gravity bleed for an hour or so, before starting the bleeding process. Put a board under the brake pedal to make sure it doesn't go to the floor while you are bleeding.

Do the work on flat ground, and when you are done, pump the brake pedal before you try to move the truck.

if you have an air compressor go buy one of these at the local harbor freight. This is the best investment I have ever made. suck the nasty fluid out of the MC. add new fluid and suck the fluid from each wheel cylinder until clear fluid emerges. with this tool (one of the few good ones from harbor freight) I can completely change fluid and bleed the system in about 10 minutes.

It has a multitude of other uses as well.

Well I know what I'm buying tomorrow... took forever to bleed them on my Sub, and now I have to do the S-10

I just rembered some one gave me a smaller version of that. Im gonna have to dig it out and see how it works. Its a handel with a gauge on it some tubes and a little bottle.... hummmm

I know what you are talking about. You are describing a vacuum tester with a small (maybe 3/4 cup) reservoir to catch the brake fluid. The tester usually works great but the little catch cup is notorious for leaking air (so you can’t build a vacuum) and the little adapters to fit on the bleeder valve leak as well.

The harbor freight one has a large reservoir and it does not leak. The attachment adapter to connect to the bleed screw works incredibly well. Most of the time Harbor Freight tools are junk but in this case I am a huge fan. The ones that come with the vacuum testers are an exercise in futility. :-)
