Other than drivelines. What all would need to be changed to go from th350 to a 400.

As far as linkages/ shifter/ kick downs and all the other crap.
Thanks.

do you have a mating t/c already?

the adapters for a 400 are 6 bolt (trans) and a 350 are 4 bolt.
the output of a 400 is 32 spline, a 350 is probably 27 spline.
400 is a little longer, so crossmember needs to be moved.
Front driveshaft lengthed, rear shortened (depending on t/c used?)
shift linkage should work alright with either trans.
350 doesn't use a kickdown switch, 400 does (under the acc pedal)

I would just find a th400/208 set up. I don't know if the output on the th400 you listed will work without changing the output shaft.

actually, after spending the morning shopping.
i found a new rebvuilt 400, setup with rebuilt 208 and adapter for the same price...

only its2 hours further away lol

Hey man
If your goal is a th400/241/205
I have what you need.
I have a th400 that will mate to 241, but no 241, and I have the 205 32 spline.
All you need is the 241 which you would be converting to mate to a 205.
$600 will get you all of it, and for another $50 I will deliver it to Sunnyvale.
The th400 is a HD unit with the deep pan, and includes an adpater for the 241, your choice tall or short.
Let me know if interested.
I am about 2 hours away if you want to pick up.

Damnit iceman! I just spent the past 5 hours going to Manteca and back to get one.

Got a full rebuilt unit with a fresh converter. With a rebuilt 208&adapter. Plus I have a 205 for free already so I didn't do too bad. But $50 delivery sure would've been nice! Lol

Another quick question on this one. Will the 32 spline shaft input from the 208 work in the 241?

-edit to say. Nope. Found that one out in my research.

I see that youre supposed to get the kick down setup when switching to the 400. Why. Other then the obvious it tells it when to down shift. Is it really necessary? Like could I live without it?

It really is simple and cheap and yes it will make the driving much better.
I might have one, I'll look for it.

Cross posting this from my build thread for advice.

So with my th350 in the truck. The cooler lines were never hooked up to radiator. It was janky rigged to a small external cooler. I was thinking about getting some stock type
Lines such as these http://m.summitracing.com/parts/RSD-TTC8504
And running it back to the stock ports in the radiator. Which way would cool better? I could always plug the radiator and stick with external. Or use the stock setup and keep that cooler for when I do hydro assist.
What say you guys?

unless your running in warmer temps ALL the time I have been advised (by Coan amongst others) to run through the radiator first then to an external cooler. That way the trans fluid comes up to temp consistently with the engine, and can burn off any condensation in the system.

From trans into the radiator, then out to an auxillary, then back to trans is ideal.
If its a daily driver, and no towing, heavy hauling, huge tires or heating issues then I think it would be ok, but you can never have to big of an auxilliary cooler for an auto-trans...heat is its worst enemy.
