I had another Blazer tailgate kicking around and last night I took some parts of it and noticed that the glass inside is very nice and TINTED :D

Just wondering how hard it would be to change my clear scratched tailgate glass for this one. The sash channel is rotten and practically fell off.

Can I just change out the glass from the sash? Or do I need to order a new sash channel and rubber for it?

How do I go about taking on this project? :dunno:

The inner and outer window seals will need to be removed (i've never been able to remove them and save them for reuse) and then unbolt the window channel from the regulator piece and remove window. If you say the window channel sash is rotted then you'll need to buy a new one as well. Make sure that the window side felts arte in good condition otherwise the window will move around and get scrathed up as the window goes up/down.

The sash in my blazer is good. The one that I found in the tailgate with the tinted window is rotten.

When I remove the glass from my good blazer tailgate, can I reuse the window sash as is? and put the nice tinted window in my good sash? or do I need to order stuff..

I already ordered window seals and have them standing by...

This is going to come down to whether or not you can remove it without damaging it and or breaking the glass on the tinted window getting the rotted one off (IIRC they are kinda glue/adhesived onto the window).

the rotten sash fell off actually and the glass is good to go. If I can salvage the gasket (or whatever you call it) that goes in the sash in my blazer then maybe I can do the swap.

How do you swap the glass? I've never done it.

Do you put the felt on the glass first and then insert into sash channel? or do you put the felt in the channel and then fit the glass? What is the actual procedure here, just curious if you've got any tips/tricks.. I can try to do it but I might wreck it without knowing what I'm doing

I've never had to change the window sash so I have no idea what the correct way would be. I would imagine it would be easiest to install the seal in the sash then the window into it.
