Rear differential is toast, but $1000 seems pretty cheap.

EDIT: I doubt I'm qualified to replace what needs replaced on this truck but that would be a nice replacement for my 3000GT. I was looking for a manual anyhow.

drop u-joint / brake hose / brake cables / shocks / u-bolts and swap whole rear axle .

just make sure good used rear you get pull the cover and verify the gear ratio and most important the condition of the carrier and the oil is not silverish .

If you want to go with known good parts you can get a reman from a parts store for under $1,500 around me, not sure about your location.

The tranny is worth the asking price. I would drop in a 14 bolt ff rear, I think you can convert to 6 lug to match front. 6 lug axle replacements are in every wrecking yard I've visited.
