So my friend called me up and said he got this tahoe for $1500 a few weks back. The next day he came to work with about 3 foot of aluminum. We cut it down to 3-1/10,000 inches and bored out some bolt holes. Been thrashed on and got the piss rode out of it and has performed like a champ.

I love HAAS and all the wonderful things they have made possible.

Next, solid axle swap.

So you used aluminum for the body lift blocks? I did the same when I had my K5 at tech, I had the machine shop make me 2" aluminum blocks. worked like a champ!

Uhhhh, you machined your body lift pucks to a tolerance of 1/10,000 of an inch?

the precision is cool until one wears unevenly and you have to replace it. Eh, the precision is still cool. :D

I know Can Can and I are probably thinking the same thing: "Damn! You're still alive!"

O man no need for bolts, just mortar both sides up and drop the body on to the brick...thats priceless:haha:but frightening at the same time.

As in like, brick and mortar, fireplace/chimney bricks?

The same bricks that Troy Aikman was throwing at those guys on the scaffolding (I'm assuming they show those commercials outside of Texas). They lasted a few miles withn normal vehicle vibration before turning into fragments and powder. But since some broke and some didn't, the body was all wavy. I guess that's the best way to put it. I have hundreds of leftover bricks from my house sitting in the garage. Maybe I'll do the same thing. :haha:

He also used 2x4s for lift blocks on the rear AND front axles ('87 K10). That didn't last long, either. Then, he "modified" his harmonic balancer by cutting off everything but the center section where the pulley bolts. His theory was that it was robbing his power. :doah::screwy:

This guy had some handyman skill, but absolutely no common sense or real knowledge to go with it. Scary combination. Most people have a clue when they're in over their head. Not this bozo.
