I just realized with my e-brake on in my work truck that it is not able to take off at all with the e-brake fully set to the floor...

must be the disk brakes because most trucks ive had I could overpower it if I wanted.

anyways, im going to weld a small plate under my rubber mat with short piece of chain welded to it, then weld a tab on my e-brake, my truck is stupid tall it wont be a paint to put the lock on since its at my hips:D

today I scored a spare steering column for 30 bucks with an air bag, i bought it to sell but I think ill save it for when some jerk tries to steal the truck or if the turn signal thingy goes out like my last truck..

so, the question is can most blazers hold them selves with the ebrake even at full throttle?

I don't know what is wrong here. Most can start rolling with the e-brake on, in gear, on flat ground, engine off, and no breeze blowing. Fords are even worse. My old F-150 had a custom ford e-brake(rubber wheel chauks). I even sold them with the truck and gave the new owner a warning about using them ALL THE TIME.
My Super Duty is Auto and the Powerstroke idles up hill with no resistance from the e-brake. A guy at work has the same truck with a manual tranny and 14" lift, his actually rolled away one day unattended on near flat ground against the parked diesel compression and damn near crushed some parked cars.
When I do burn outs, I hold full brake and them step on the diesel, it busts loose, so I don't know how you don't have the power to smoke the e-brake.

Anti-Theft 101

All you have to do is interupt the starter power w/ a switch (usually mounted in a hidden spot). Super easy, install in less than an hour and will cost about $10. I have done this to both trucks and my Caddy.

when i just finished my motor and was moving it down my hill, the e brake was on, in gear, 3k rpm and i would stall out completely..not really sure what would happen.

doesnt take much to fry the linings with the ebrake on. After I replaced a few parts though, mine is awesome.

Theft prevention: those collars seem to be pretty decent, as that seems to be the "Weak spot" of the truck. fuel pump cut off works well also.

i have a automatic tilt column in a manual truck,...i just drove the pin out and removed the shifter handle from the column, but i also hooked up the neutral safty switch...i can grag the collar and spin it down to where 1st gear would be and it puts the handle hole down low enuff that its not noticed and truck won't start unless you know to turn the collar up to park position....i've seen people try for 30 mins try and figure it out....the fuel pump and light toggles complicate matters and its so simple!

so, the question is can most blazers hold them selves with the ebrake even at full throttle?

Once watched a guy twist his drive line off doing that, he was trying to do a power brake but didn't consider the fact that he had rear disc's and the holding power they would have...BANG!

So anyway, word of caution while testing out those e-brakes. :doah:

I've driven around my neighborhood with the ebrake on. It has decent holding power. But any serious incline, forget it.

Why would you try to power brake with the e-brake?

You didn't happen to replace that 350 with a 1.8L did you? That's the only way I can think of the e-brake actually working. I dropped in a D60 and still don't have an e-brake worth it's weight.

IMHO the best possible way to prevent somebody from stealing your car is to drive a POS. I think my DD car is probably worth about $75, or $100 with a full tank of gas. I wouldn't even lock it if I didn't keep my iPod in it.

I drove my '67 Fairlane for about 10 miles once without realizing the e-brake was on. A funny smell was the only thing that tipped me off.

yeah, that doesn't always work. Someone stole my pos. And being a pos, I only had liability...

Well it doesn't make sense to carry a $500 deductable on a $100 car anyway. I would be bummed if somebody stole my POS, it's not much, but it's mine and a good cheap POS can be hard to come by.

that is a good point. mine was a 2k pos though. still not worth the extra money. now I drive a $700 pos. thing runs like a champ, keys always in it. But, I leave the keys in my '07 too... The pos that was stolen didn't have the keys in it. hmmm

Most criminals are pretty dense. I bet they can't figure out how to jam their screwdriver into the column cylinder with your keys in the way.:haha:

I think the main thing besides having discs , is the fact you have factory gears and tall tires , hard to overcome :thumb:

not really, even with 35's it could not do it, most have tons non regeared trucks would be working with say a 3.42 ratio, being i have 4.10s I cant say im that bad off. at 65 im right at 1900 rpms

I really like the cruise rpms

one thought I have is that these trucks have tq managment, they bog down if you try to floor it from the line..seems this came into play the same time they dtarted offering the 100k warranty..

Does your truck use the drum brake integrated behind the disc brake deal like some chevys use? I read suburbans/tahoes had it...maybe 1/2 tons but I'm not sure if they still use this setup or if the discs have an integrated e-brake line to lock them up...
