Hossbaby50 said:Honestly if you wheel the truck hard you should carry a full set of axleshafts inner and outer with ujoints, 2 locking hubs, and a spare spindle. If a stub breaks there is a possiblitity of it taking out your spindle.
BlueBlazer62 said:You think this is the case with stock 60? If so, you are sadly mistaken.
84_Chevy_K10 said:I would go with the flanges whether you go with the Detroit or not. I never unlock my hubs and haven't since I put my '60 in, locker or not, in 2wd, you won't notice it.
Extra D60 joints are not necessary. A D60 is not like a D44. The joints are not the weak point.

BlueBlazer62 said:Stock stubs, specifically.
BlueBlazer62 said:Uh, wow, ok. I have seen 2 stubs break like they were nothing, 1 on 39.5, one on 42s, the 38.5s cant be that much easier on stubs. I believe you are on borrowed time, especially if you get a doubler.
If what you "shouldn't be doing" is part of the trail, then what do you do?
Hossbaby50 said:FWP popped 2 30 spline stubs with 38.5" tires in the same weekend. He was using a decent amount of gas but it wasn't like he had the pedal mashed and was driving widely. He was hung and was under power trying to get free and POW.
He also stretched out the ears on 35 spline inners and outers with 38.5" tires. He wheels hard on a heavy truck.
