I think the next moter is going to be a big block,am on a budget too.I know the the word big block and budget really dont go together.Should i find a running core and rebuild it,or buy a "cheap"reman, longblock.i dont have much room at home to have a whole parts truck, thats why i like the long block idea.whats the best years of 454's?All the ones i see are mark iv i think, out of a 73-80 truck.

find a doner ride. i drove home a 454 burban 2x4 1/2 ton all factory with air and cruise . 600 bucks. just needed a new cam few flat lobes. 78 motor with large oval ports and non emissions.

X2. For a grand you can often walk into a good running, but rusty or ugly truck. The're out there, just have to be in the right place at the right time.
