I just built this badboy as my second welding project. I needed something to weld on besides metal milk crates so, here it is. The design is based loosely on the table from monster garage, although after I built it I realized mine's alot bigger.

Once I get my new garage, a welding table is my first task to complete.

I just hope you never have to move that thing. /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

Actually, its not nearly as heavy as I thought it would be. Of course it, it doesnt have the 1/4" plate on top yet. When I was putting the legs on I was flipping it up and around and over with no problems. Right now it might go 200-250 lbs. I'm planning on covering the middle half with plate and leaving 2' open on either end as soon as I figure out how to get the 3/8" plate off my 1/4" plate lol. The good news is there is room for this bad boy in my 6000 sq. ft. shop /forums/images/graemlins/woot.gif

What all is it made out of?? I think I am going to make me one I am tired of welding on the ground all the time.
Thanks /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

If you can find a way to do it 1/2" plate is much better for a welding table.

Our tables at work are 1 1/4" plate and 5 feet by 10 feet. We have one that we machined dead square and flat to within .010". It sure is nice to fit stuff on knowing it's true and flat.

A coat of primer will keep the spatter off the table too. Spraying spatter block on the table helps a lot, but it'll make the table attract grime and dust and turn into a mess eventually.

The main 4' x 8' frame is made out of 3" .188 angle. The legs are 4" .188 angle. The outer two crossers are 3/8" x 2" strip and the inner 3 crossers that the plate will be resting across are 2" (whatever the next size down from .188 is) angle. I have 1 4 x 8 sheet of 3/8" and 2 4 x 8 sheets of 1/4". I am planning on using the 3/8" for a couple of winch and bumper mounts so I think I'll stick with 1/4", I dont feel like spending $300 on another sheet of 3/8" /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif. Lol ringmaster.
