I saw it last night. I don't know, but I'm guessing it gets more time in the desert than most of the shiny 4x4s I see. The snorkel is a bit over the top, considering there's no water crossings around here... Maybe it's to keep the tall sage brush and tumble weeds out? :dunno:

:haha:

Looks like Colby’s K-35 already mistook it for a little rock and ran it over a couple times. See, he left tire tracks on it :haha:

Actually, I think the little turd is kinda neat. Probably cost less than an ATV and will go as many places and still be street legal then when it breaks you can just throw it in the back of your truck to carry it home.

Aww common! Maybe he had some home depot gift certificates and PVC pipe was on sale??

Sad thing is you're right - this fine piece of shade tree engineering is going to cost way less than an average ATV these days. Regardless, lets hope he has fun with this ?thing?

Don't underestimate those little Sidekick/Tracker things. They have a solid rear axle and IFS, but a real t-case, and a real frame on body construction. With a rear locker, a cheap lift and shocks, and some good 30-31" tires they become quite capable. I had a 93 Sidekick 2 dr and it was a fun little buggy. No lift and 235/75/15 BFG MTs that thing would rock down all the little trails around here. Came up on a group of guys on quads and I could here one of them say "That thing's like a Razor (or whatever side by side was popular at the time)." And my reply was "Yeah, but a helluva lot cheaper!"

in a desert environment a snorkel keeps the engine from pulling in dust/dirt being kicked up by the wheels (or the truck in front of you)

Yeah, I think this guy's vehicle is probably pretty well set up for exploring service roads around here. The service roads are really rough - they're almost all like driving on a dry riverbed. So you do need a real deal 4x4 even to just explore off the pavement in NV.

It doesn't matter where your intake is: You're going to be sucking down dust around here. A regular intake would probably be better, in my opinion, because you're not going to end up with as much dust in your engine bay as will be floating around outside. Besides, your air filter deals with all of that. This is the only NV truck I've seen with a snorkel, and there's a lot of purpose built rigs. If there were a big advantage to snorkels, we'd see more of them around here -- and on KOH buggies.

The snorkle in the desert thing comes from Austrailia. Over there it's common even in the desert. Lots of Suzuki owners from Oz and points near on Suzuki forums so that modification isn't unknown.

I love Trackers and Vitaras/Kicks. Owned a bunch of them over the past 11 years. Great 4x4's and DD's.
That one has some fluff pieces on it but does look like it's setup to work a bit.

496, I had a 2dr 93 with a stick and 235/75R15 muds. No lift. Only performance mod was trashing the whole interior save the front seats. That thing went anywhere! If I had a locker or something in the rear it would have been a tank!

Obviously you have never followed behind us when we wheel out in east texas and it hasn't rained in a few months........

The snorkle would need to be 50 ft high......:D

And thats no joke...... red dust so thick it'll choke ya'....:doah:

Pre cleaners are supposed to work well on snorkels in the desert.

I have always thought an x90 would be a fun little buggy, but I'm a sucker for anything with t-tops. (the x90 is on the same drivetrain)

Before I knew how easy SASs(pre ck5) and before I bought my k5 I went to look at a tracker. The fellow selling didn't speak great english. When I got there, it was 2wd and I was like :doah: Looking back, it would have been an awesome project.

I used to PDI those little X90s when they were new. Back when I worked at the GMC dealer, they also sold Suzukis. Fun little 4x4s.
