Checking in From Ft Worth

Look at your front bumper. Look at the transfer case.

It's not a '79. You've been had. As long as it is not stolen. I would just go with it.

I agree it’s not a bad thing to have a tub swapped. The actual ‘79 tub might have been Swiss cheese so if this tub is rust free they did you a favor.

Curious if they actually swapped the vin tag to the later body. I’d compare what’s on the title to the vin tag on the dash. One other spot, if the glove box is original it would have the factory spid label on it with the vin. Compare there too.

Look at the bumper. It is not a '79 in any way. It is an 80's rig with a VIN swap.

since you are in texas you can ask a state trooper to come and look at it before you put money in it.

WARNING if it comes back stolen or funny in any way they will tow it off

Thanks, I'll check the frame. So far all the title and dash plate match. I'll have to wait till I get home to check the frame plate.
Looking around it seems like 79 and 80 were an odd ball year, may have had to substitute the early 80s parts. Who knows.
So far it looks like just bolt on parts are different, I guess we will see.
Thanks for all the help

no worries man . I found after i bought mine it has a 77 frame and an 82 body..................

Nope. There is really no difference between '79 and '80, other than the grille insert.

It has a lot of '81+ features.

It is not a '79.

Okay, its not 79. Must be a 2014.

Just trying to help you out.

The front bumper if for an '81+ Blazer. If you bolted that bumper to a '79 Blazer frame, it would angle down, as a '73-'80 frame horn is different than an '81+ frame. So it has an '81+ frame, with an '81+ bumper.

It has an '81+ front clip. It has an '84+ column, it has an '81+ transfer case, and the correct shifter for it. There is nothing 1979 about that Blazer. Hopefully it was just a Blazer with no title, and someone swapped the VIN on the dash, so they could title it. Even though that is illegal.

Now that is helpful information, and thank you.
Some of the previous posts were pretty vague, so I hope you can see where I am coming from. :waytogo: At that point I did start looking at the different year brochures and parts catalog trying to see where the differences were. Everything seemed to be just bolt on parts. Being new to chevy, how was I supposed to know that the frame changed in XXXX year.
So, while it is good information. Trust but verify, right? I will still be checking the frame, door and glovebox for a vin. All when I get home from Sea.
I should be able to get better pictures of the running gear or any other details etc.
