#211401 is the TCI Maximizer 4x4 tranny to fit my '85 K30 with a 205.

The rep said this tranny will have a 2.5" rear output shaft stickout and then he said he couldn't guarantee that it would be a K-case as I had requested.

WTF? :dunno:

What happened to customer request? If I ask for the K-case to fit a specific year, shouldn't they oblige to keep the customer happy to retain business? What happened to the "customer is always right"?

I'm not shelling out XXX.XX amount of dollars to take a gamble whether I get a K-case or not.

TCI just lost my respect as a customer.

I am with you on that if its is marketed as a direct replacement then it should be a K case as that is what would replace what is in there now. TCI has been on my poop list for some time now because of some crummy tc i got from them that they wouldnt warranty. Lazy welds.

x2 on TCI, don't use them. As for the K-case, they don't care, they rebuild a bunch of cases, put them on a shelf, and sell them as is. They are not the type of company that is going to build you a specific one tailored to your needs as I bet they don't even keep track of the regular or k cases. They are just crate rebuilds. I know, I blew one up after 6 months of use in a car (car th350) and they wouldn't honor my warranty for some reason and that was over 10 years ago and I still hold my grudge.

Who is BTO?

I'm gonna check the services of B&M and Hughes.

Any others to look into?

couple people have monster th400s here. hopefully they will chime in but ive only heard great things about them

"K" cases do not exist in TH400 form. 4x4 cases have big numbers (like 26 or 39) in the bellhousing or "HD" or both (HD 44). The best core would be a CUCV TH400 or motorhome TH475. I can give you my trans guys phone number.

TH350s, 700R4s, 4l80E 4x4 cases have a K cast into them. 4x4 TH400s do not, so when you tell the trans builder you want a TH400 K case they will give you a 2wd case because they have never seen a K case 400. Tell them you want a HD case, either from a 4x4, commercial chassis or motorhome. A K case TH400 does not exist. There are 4 different torque converter cover flanges too, the HD or 4x4 cases have the thick ones, some are untapped.

hmmm, didn't know the TH350 had a K case version.. good info...

TCI told me the same thing . . . that they couldn't guarantee a “K” case. So, I brought one to them and they built it.

call Boyce....

I got a HD case T400 pullout shipped to my loading dock banded down on a pallet for 400 bucks...:waytogo:
