Well, almost have everything to install the rear discs. To hook up the Chevette brakeline to the calipers, don't I need to get a flaring tool. I was looking at some (less than $100.00) and they are for soft metals, copper, aluminum, etc.........

Do I need to keep looking for ones for steel lines?

pep boys or auto zone should sell what you need. If you want something a little better look at summit. You can get one that will do Stainless tubing if you go to Summit. Not that, that is a selling point to you.

Yea, the info on Summit says it will do steel now that I read it again. The others didn't mention steel though........

The Summit one looks identical to the Autozone one.

I'll order the Summit one in a few minutes. Thanks man:grin:

O.K.

Now ..............one more (I hope) question.
37 degrees or 45 degrees?

Summit 37 Degree Flare Tool Sets

A Summit exclusive!

Most flare tools are set up to make 45 degree flares for fuel lines and household applications, but these Summit flare tools make 37 degree flares--the proper angle for -AN automotive fittings. These 8 degrees can be the difference between annoying leaks and a perfect seal! A carrying case is included.

Summit 45 Degree Double Flare Tool Sets

The easy way to plumb your car.

Add some flare to your car's steel or aluminum line--double flares, that is--with one of these Summit double flare tool sets. They include five thread dies for forming 45 degree flares on 3/16 in., 1/4 in., 5/16 in., 3/8 in., and 1/2 in. tubing. These tools also work on .040 in. copper tubing, in case you want to do some plumbing around the house. A handy storage/carry case is included.

37 degree is for stainless. 45 is for normal steel tube. Stainless will split if flared to 45.

Alright.......now to the Summit order line!:cool1:

Thank ya'll gentlemen bery bery much.

I had it in my "Blazer" folder but it seems to have moved/deleted. WTF?

Anyway I was told that any mid '70's Chevette will be fine. I was gonna go by Autozone or NAPA and get a set with my calipers in hand, so I can see right there and then.

O.K. $43.83 shipped. Thanks again gents, if ya wanna borrow 'em, stop by the house.

everywhere I go everyone tells me I should have brought her. At the party I was at last night, "you should have brought her" yeah a drunken mess perfect place for me to be holding a ball of spikes all night long. Seriouslly if I were to come down I would bring her with. Not just for your wife to see, the fact that I can't just leave her at home helps.

oil city looks like an hour or so from here in Blairsville, good distance from my real home though.
