Off Road Ltd now has a slip yoke eliminator kit for the Chevy 208 and 241 transfer cases.
Complete with flanged yoke, retaining bolt, washer and shaft seal as well as all CV mounting allen head cap screws. The yoke flange will accept CVs using up to 1350 series joints. The transfer case output shaft has to be drilled and tapped.

This kit will allow the use of a rear CV drive shaft thus eliminating the vibration issue most often associated with lifted vehicles with these types of transfer cases. The conversion also provides peace of mind that should the unexpected loss of a rear drive shaft occur, one can drive out on the front drive shaft without the fear of damage to the transfer case from loss of fluid without the presence of the original slip-in yoke type drive shaft.

Custom drive shafts are available upon request to complete the conversion.

$185.00

Drill and Tap

I remember seeing similar for Jeep NP 231's. I have done the JB Conversion NP 241 SYE kit before, but it costs more and required removal and disassembly of the t-case. Can the drill and tap be performed without removing the t-case?

It can be done without removing the t-case, but it is easier to do it with it removed.

Mistake on title - should read 208/241

Sorry guys - typing error on main title - this kit is for the 208 & 241 t-case NOT the 205.

Do you have a picture with it installed? If so can you share it with us? I'm looking into getting the short shaft kit.thanks Ruben

Price

What is the package price with a CV shaft and 1350 yokes ready to bolt in?

It looks like all you would have to do to install this is drill and tap the end of the output shaft. No TC disassembly required. Is this correct?

A CV shaft w/ 1350 joints to attach directly to your 14 FF 1350 yoke is $567.71 plus the SYI kit---if you want to go to 1410 joint @ the diff a 14 FF yoke(which is a strap yoke also) would be an additional $165.12 including the strap kit---the strap kit should be changed and one is included w/ the driveshaft

The SYI can be installed in the vehicle w/o taking the T/C out or apart--a little bit of work but can be done as we have done it just to make sure

I have done the JB Conversion NP 241 SYE kit before, but it costs more and required removal and disassembly of the t-case.
The JB kit shortens the t-case about like 9 inches and gets rid of the cone that breaks off and kills the t-case.

What are the benefits of this kit besides removing the shaft without fluid drain?

This system works on both the 208 and 241 T/C. Even w/ the 241 being the T/C of choice, there are plenty of K5 owners w/208 cases which would like to have this option available to them, also. If they should make the change to a 241, this conversion can be transfered to the new T/C. In addition, w/ this kit if you happen to have a stock driveshaft that fits and one throws the CV shaft for whatever reason then the stock unit can be put back into service or the vehicle can just be converted back to a stock configuration for whatever reason also w/o a lot of work or expense. The issue of breaking the tail housing, which was mainly a function of excessive movement from the slip yoke on lifted vehicles is removed as it does not depend on the tail housing bushing for support w/ the conversion flange bolted down and seated against the bearing in the case.

not w/ the new flanged yoke -- it would have to be removed and then the stock type driveshaft can be installed
