chevy 3/4 ton detroit diesel

i have a 78 chevy 3/4 ton and was thinking of putting a detroit diesel in it. how hard is it to put a 6v53 in something like this? what transmission and transfercase should i use? are 4v53 underpowered for the original transmission?

big and heavy not sure a 6v53 would fit?? i've seen 4-53's and even a 4-71 put in our trucks .

6v53 would break a 3/4 ton front axle in half, way too heavy
