So I have an ‘88 c70 dump with a 366 in it. Had issues with it running. Hauled it to a local mechanic who along with others file issues rebuilt the carburetor. My drive home was a bit rough, but I just chalked that up to me. In further investigation I noticed that the gas pedal really isn’t moving much at all. Traced it in the engine bay and noticed that the throttle linkage appears to be frozen at the carb. Not really even sure how I have been driving it as well as I have. Any ideas what might have been installed wrong or gotten bound up? I can’t even move it by hand. Here are a couple pics. Can take better/more specific pics if someone needs them. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

were your pinch bolt to hold the linkage arm to the cab mount ? ? ?

and the bend over tabs didnt get bent over on the BIG spring nut .

i would have to dig around for my carb off my 88 gmc7000 366 its in the shop some place and its a mess .

from what i have read up there a nightmare if you dont know and understand them . getting parts for them can be tricky . most guys swap on a edelbrock 600cfm # 1405 model or the holley 400-475 cfm as these 366 only need 340-390 cfm if running at 90% efficiency . but if you do this you loose the engine governor and also need a small spacer for the butterfly plates to clear the intake ports . guys say they run a lot better and even the 490 cfm carb is more than it needs . just dont spin them past 4krpm MAX .

The pinch bolt we took off when we were troubleshooting. I'm up here "helping" ryan on this. So I'm guessing if we loosen that bolt and bend down the tabs we should be able to turn the throttle? Thanks for helping out

i dont know ..... like i said my carb was shot and frozen up so buy the time i was going to play with it i went brand new edelbrock as i HATE holley brand . have yet to install engine yet tho .

I appreciate the information. I think you are right with the spring nut. Kind of kicking myself for not going new. For the price I spent on rebuild kit and his labor I could have probably bought a new one. Eager to work on it tomorrow.

I've got an Edelbrock #1403 500 cfm carb w/ electric choke and a spread bore adapter that I ran on a 305 for years just sitting on my shelf. I you need it let me know, I'll let it go cheap.
