whats the diffrence between chevy d60's and dodge one tons. (i dont know if you call them dana 60's). whats the diffrence in strength, parts, fit, gears. do chevy lockers still fit? are the axle shafts the same, ext. can you fit the same size tires as a chevy d60, do the same drivelines work?? lots of questions, let me know anything you know.

the spring perches are .5 inches wider on a dodge dana 60.
stub axles are the same and ujoints are too. its the inners that i think are different, at least one is.
yoke size will vary, i happened to get a 1350 with mine.
alot of parts swap over actually, check out the dana 60 bible over on pirate. that article is very comprehensive and will probably answer most if not all of your questions.

Thats funny you put it like that seeing as how Dana is dodges division or subsidiary whatever you wanna call it. We actually "borrowed" that axles from them.

Dana has never been a subsidiary or division of Dodge to the best of knowledge.

Back to the original question of Dodge vs. Chevy D60's.

All of the eariler Dodge versions had external locking hubs, but they did go to internal style just like the Chevy somewhere in the late-80's/early-90's and through '93. In '94 Dodge still had a "Dana 60" in the new style trucks but it is substantially different (king pins, unit bearings, axle disconnect, no locking hubs).

I have a dodge 60 at my house, The srw wms is 67 and the chevy is 69. The spring perches are 1 inch wider then the chevy. The longside axle shaft is the bastard one as its a little shorter then the chevy but still the same 35 spline. The steering arm is different, the pass side perch fits only a 2.5 inch spring while the chevy's fit a 3" wide spring, the drivers side spring perch is beefier than the chevy as well, the shock mounts are different (beefier then chevy), Mine is a 1990 so it has 1/4 turn warn hubs on it that are internal (same as chevy). The brakes are the same as the chevy (6 bolt spindle). Mine had 3.54 gears stock and a 1310 ujoint and came with non neckdown 35 spline shafts.

wow thats what i needed to know! thanks

The longside shaft on a Dodge is hair longer then a Chevy longside but should switch out ok. They are only .13" difference in length. The shortside Dodge shaft is the one that is not interchangeable with chevy. It is a little over 1.5" shorter then the chevy shortside shaft.
