Hello guys,
i have a question regarding my 12bolt on my k5. Has anyone ever had an axel stuck so bad you can’t push it in to remove the C-Clip? The driver side was not a problem but it’s the passenger side that is just stuck! I have tried to hammer it in I even tried a C-Clamp but so far nothing.:doah::doah: Not sure if it makes a difference if it has a posi, I believe it’s a eaton posi (has yellow springs)

By the way some info on the truck it’s a 1982 Chevy K5 (Diesel) not sure if that makes a difference.
Any help would be appreciated

Thank you
Jr.

If it is the g80 the center block may be shifted over a little not letting it axle push in. You can look in the center where the pin goes and see if the axle is hitting it,if it is just move it until the axle slides in

Could the axle be so badly worn that the ridge is catching on the bearing? Try picking up the axle a little then push in. Also, someone may have put an aftermarket seal/bearing in there that is interfering

Okay ill try that out when i get home. Thank you very much.

when you get it out check the splines . you might have a twisted shaft ready to break and the splines are twisted just right to lock it in the side gear.

don't be afraid to wack the shaft a bit with a hammer . and or 1 guy push and another pry side gear over and drop clip off.

and if you got springs in the center and no clock work ton of parts it sounds like a good aftermarket posi like a auburn type,

Alright guys since both my axles are bent I removed the driver side and used it as a hammer for the passenger side, after about 30min of beating it gave me just enough room to remove to C-CLIP!!! Felt so good to remove that dammm clip!!! Since it was already late I just wrapped it up and I will be removing the axle tonight!:thumb:

Onto another topic, do you guys know of a good place to buy body mounts? I have a stupid 3 inch body lift I want to remove and replace back to stock. The 6” lift inch leaf springs it has is more than enough to clear the 35's I have for it. Plus I just hate body lifts.

so sounds like time for new shafts .

and I run energy suspension poly body mounts . just grab a kit and reuse your hardware cups/washers . will need new bolts since removing body lift .

got the C clip out! now the damm axle is stuck! it won't move at all i tried a slide hammer and tried to yank it by connecting the axle shaft to a strap and yank it with a car :) lol nothing it's stuck!

will it spin in the tube. i mean not in and out of the tube just being able to rotate it in the like how it would normally spin while driving

I had a dana 44 front 1 time I used a Honda 300 4x4 atv to yank 7-8 times to pop the axle out . as I said before the splines could be twisted just right from severe load and jamb up in the spider gear.

when I got this dana 44 shaft out it was just like that . :doah:

You'll probably need a slide hammer to pull it out, like a Morgan Knocker with a 15 lb hammer on it and a attachment for the end that screws to 3 of the lug studs..
