Just came from an estate sale where the guy was a gm parts guy that would do closeouts. I picked up several gm truck book parts and illustrated catalogs for 73and up light trucks. Some are brand new. Also found a few classic corvette parts book. What is nice about these is that they are in the blue gm binders.

Does any one know the last year gm published the parts listings for 73 to 78?

I started to go thru these in more detail. I had the back of my car full of these catalogs. There are several years.

  • 73-78 C/K Truck effective 1978
  • 73-78 C/K Truck effective 1984
  • 73-78 C/K Truck effective 1985
  • 79-84 C/k Truck effective 1988
  • 79-84 C/k Truck effective 1987
  • 53-78 Corvette effective 1978
  • 85-86 C/K and 87-89 RV effective (?? brand new in wrapper, both are bundled together)
  • 85-86 effective 1987
  • Parts replacement & suppression 67-to date effective 1989

For some of these I have multiple copies. I took what I could but left a lot behind. He had them stacked 5 feet high in the garage. I think the rest were going to the trash.

You should go and get the rest. They sell for $50 - $100 EACH on eBay! You could make a ton of money!

After some research and looking over the collection of books I think 1985/1984 is the last year of update for the 73-78 ck illustrated catalog and parts book. This would make since because GM only is suppose to maintain a full inventory of parts up until 7 years. There are three sets of these books 73-78, 79-84 and 85+. 1993 was the last published catalogs as then they went to digital.
