Heavy is correct about the C and K thing. Like I said, forget that piece of fecal matter you looked at last night. It has full time 4wd. GET A LATE '70's Chevy 1 ton or 3/4! If you go with a 77-79 1 ton you will have a D60/14BFF, NP205 part time 4wd, th400, and a 350/400/454. NUFF SAID!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/deal.gif
I heard you say something about an "old diesel"...'82 was the first year for the 6.2 diesel.

OK...you want an example. You read " 1978 Chevy K30 1 ton, 4x4, 454, auto, reg. cab, blue. $3,500 OBO 555-5555" in your local paper and you say "honey, lets go look at this truck I found in the paper. You call the guy and get directions, you and the wifey pooh jump in the mustang and head to the guys place. You get there and look at it. It says "K30 silverado" on the side of the pickup next to the door handle. You look at the t case lever and it says 2hi, 4hi, N, 4lo. It is probably a 205. You see it has lockout hubs, ones bigger than you have on the blazer. You take a peeky under the front bumper AND COUNT ONLY 3 U-BOLTS ( bolts in the shape of a "U" that go around the axle tube and connect to a plate on the spring) AND SPOT FUNNY LOOKING BALL JOINTS (ball joints are those things next to each tire up front where the axle looks like a wishbone.) You have now confirmed that it's a 4x4 1 ton with a D60 from the badging and seeing funny ball joints and one missing u bolt.
You open the door and find a decent interior. You sit down and check out everything, dash lights work, radio works, locks, windows, look over the condition of the apolstery, and see it says "P R N D 2 L" on the steering columb, it's and auto! Satisfied at what you find inside you move to the front....
You pop the hood, hmmm....the engine looks bigger than the one in your blazer, it is a big block 454(it probably also says "454" on the front grille) You see a little oil but nothing bad. The owner informs you he had it rebuilt about 5 years ago. You pull the transmission dipstick( that tube by the firewall) and find a decent red colored oil ( thats ATF) and it doesn't smell funny so you put it back. You pop the radiator cap and find lime green water, you put the cap back (important)You shut the hood....
YOu look over the body, it's a fairly decent blue, couple dings and scrathes but not bad, you are ok with the paint.
You fire it up and it starts easy, you check the oil pressure and apon start up you see the guage hit 40-60 PSI at idle. You don't hear any funny sounds really except for the 454 idling. You go for a drive and the tranny shifts smooth and doesn't do anything goofy. Engine has nice power and sounds good, steering feels fairly nice and the brakes work good. You return to the owners house....
You tell him you will give him $3K for it....he goes for it. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif You exchange money, bill of sale, and the pink slip (also very important). Your wifey pooh drives the 'stang and you drive the new pickup home.
ALAS!!! You have a 1978 K30 with a D60/14BFF 454/400/205 that is fairly clean and runs good. All was well and all was good. /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif
Now, print this post out and wait for a similar add in your local paper and copy what you did in the post, just in real life. /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
