anybody done it? considering putting the body of my 89 sub on an extended cab dodge frame to take advantage of cummins nv4500 and dana 80 with discs from a 94-98 dodge.

obviously the frame would need shortened, body mounts fabbed, etc. etc.

looking for possible major fitment problems ideas and positive feed back

Personally, I would swap everything into the burb. Lots of fab either way. Just what i would do.

i've thought about that. i should have included my other reasons. i want to have a flat belly pan, and four link front axle with driverside diff so as to clear a 4-5" exhaust on the passenger side. and the dodge already has a 4 link not a good one but it's a start.

can't be too hard. Get your tape and check wheelbase between the 2 and that will tell you alot. A few years ago Peterson's put a 4 door JK body on a dodge CTD chassis

'Trucks' is in the process of putting a 70s Ford crewcab on a newer Dodge extended cab frame with the Cummins. I would think it would be easier than swapping the running gear.

my newest build I put a 97 s-1o cab on a 71 k5 frame. Basically position it where you want above the frame and start building body mount brackets then hook up body controls and such.

ive been recording the trucks episodes of the body swap cummins and for some reason they positioned the body starting at the rearaxle and then repositioned the drivetrain back 6 inches. i'm guessing because the engine is mounted further in front of the axle than the ford was. frame wise it looks close enough to flat that a body swap would be simple and doable but if i have to relocate the drivetrain ti make it work i might as well stick with the burb frame. my only concern there is the strength of the frame and being able to handle the torque.
