Square lights were only an option in the 80 model year so they came both ways in 80 - GM was quietly gett’n the public ready for square lights only coming in 81….

I concur. That looks like an 80 with round headlights judging by the bezel shape and slotted trim below the center of the grille.

Actually 79s were the same. Both years also have a raised/embossed area on the hood and tailgate.

Yep, '79 has all the ugly, tacky looking additional chrome, without the advantage of the attractive square headlamps.
