Chevy's in the wild

I seen a yellow convertible one about an hr ago. Wasn't able to get my phone out in time.
 
I prefer the firebird in 67.
I have the 400 ram air missing the hood
A guy back in high school drove a silver 68 Firebird 400 4-spd ,with red interior ,that was STOUT and sounded so damn good ( I did not know enough about Pontiacs back in 1986 to know what flavor of 400 it was ) .
He got it from his Uncle and he knew it was a rare beast - it was original and had more lope and boogety-boogety to it than any other Poncho that I ever heard in stock form.
He drove it cautiously but on occasion he would ease out and wind her out in first gear and hit second hard enough to light em up and just enough effort to chirp third gear but not abuse it - that damn thing was feared by most of the muscle car guys ( with stock set ups and several that were not ) because it just accelerated so damn hard with minimal throttle.

I use to wait in the parking lot at school just to hear it crank up and idle as it warmed up - that car alone got me interested in Pontiacs.

My dad had a 66 GTO with the 389 2bl when I was born.
He got a 400 and had the block cleaned and checked, started getting parts together to build it, and mom stepped in.
She told him either the car goes, or she does.
He sold the whole friggin works for $75 since it wasn't turn key at that point.
About 8-9 years later my uncle found his car in a garage about 4 blocks from our apartment.

He looked at it, talked to the dude and they came to a $1000 price.
Dad had the money available around that time, but no place or time to work on it. So he passed on it.
He slowly started a 66 shrine in the gun room, that spilled out all over the house. Die casts, and signs, etc. all over.
Never did own one again.
And when he passed, we made sure he had the closest to his, die cast version he ever found, clasped in his hands in his casket.

I still have a bunch of his die casts and such in my house, and my shop.
I personally never seen the car. But if I ever won the Powerball I'd sure try damn hard to find it.

By flavor of 400 I was talk’n about Pontiacs R/A-II, III or IV or H.O. variety’s.
The II’s are rare but it could very well have been one since the III’s & IV’s weren’t until 69 IIRC ?
