Hey guys, dont have a CC of my own, but on a hunt. All the pics I’ve seen make the back seat look pretty tight, especially compared to modern crewcabs/megacabs. My son is just over 2, and him riding comfortably is a must for me to convince my wife we need a CC. Seems kids feet would be kicking through the front seat; is it really that tight? Anybody got pics?

No it's not tight at all. My 81 has more rear seat room than my 2016

Is it just an optical illusion? Rear seat looks tight in this picture for example.

I bet the front seat is all the way back in that.and there's still probably a foot between seats easy.
I'm not really tall at 5'9", but with 2 boys and my wife in the back every one has enough room still.

Find one for sale around you, even if it's a basket case, and climb in the back seat.

As for a car seat, the center spot is the only real one you can put it in. And with a normal seat in there, there's probably 6" of seat left in front of it.

So what it sounds like is it would be ideal to have buckets and consol up front so i could move the passenger front seat forward independently, and thus have lot of space for my sons kicking feet

Imo, the back seat was small, as an adult I wouldn’t want to travel back there but now I’m used to a mega cab though. I don’t have any car seat pics but both of our girls were very little when I had my cc, I didn’t have any problems. My girls went through rear and forward facing baby carriers in the back seat, with boosters I moved them front to back depending on if my wife was with us but it worked in the back.

As far as kicking the front seat etc, that wasn’t a problem because they knew that was a definite no-no.

That was 6" of seat plus the foot between them.
But buckets are better anyway, so buckets get my vote either way lol. There's more than enough room back there. Like mentioned, my sone is more cramped now with no car seat in my '16 CC, than he was in the in the car seat in my 81.

I had child seats in my '91 CC. It was fine, plenty of room. I did swap to buckets without a console. That was pretty convenient for dealing with little kids in the back. Did lots of camping and riding around in the mountains, its a great family truck. The rear doors are the same as a suburban so similar room in the back seat.

I only got in the back of my C/C a few times and I ( 6-1” tall ) felt it was cramped - not enough that it made me not want it but it was noticeable to me and other fully grown passengers.
To be fair though I drove with the front seat all the way back.

What hurt my feelings was when I got in the back of my neighbors F-350 crew cab - there was way more leg room.
And as for NVRENUF’s 2500 Dodge superdooper, extra extraordinary, MEGACAB the rear leg room is just ridiculously big!
Not only can you transport babies in the back with no possibility of them kicking the front seat ( no matter what age they are ) there is enough room for ole mom-n-dad to have made those babies back there….

My kid rode in a baby seat for years in my square body crew cab. My crew cab is a Silverado that came factory with 40/20/40 seats. I positioned his baby seat up the middle of the rear bench seat, and with the center console folded in the down position he had more leg room. My kid went to his first day of Kinder garden in this truck, and his last day of high school in this truck.

It’s tight with two actual car seats. Now the oldest is in a booster so it’s not that bad having all three back there.
They are gonna kick the seat and set their feet on top of the front bench.

Do you have any pics with the car seats in the back? Dont need children in pics.

I need to go out and measure the distance between car seat and front seats in our other cars. Im spoiled with the space of the blazer backseat, so mentally that isnt helping me

I don’t have one already taken. But this might help give you an idea?
Not a lot when the car seat base takes up most of the bench seat bottom in the first place.2568E9CC-7574-44FC-8682-6C13F8186E8F.jpeg
